Reaching for the weekend like..
I am so excited to reveal the location of the “forgotten” ship wreck that I have re-discovered tomorrow!! I had heard my dad mention it in passing and so I pestered him for information immediately to which he told me all he could remember about it’s location and then told me “ I don’t know anymore!! Leave me alone!!” 😂 From here I went out and looked for it twice on my own without luck. I went back and pestered some more!! Next I took my buddy Ryan from @whatsupbarbados with me so I would feel safer to dive deeper and swim out further. ALWAYS dive with a buddy! It’s more fun and much safer. And so Ryan and me had a good look around and right when we were about to give up I said look let’s swim a little further out before we go in. Here we found a large sand patch with a fish pot on it so I swam down to take a look. On my way up I saw a dark shape in the distance which intrigued me and so after some recovery breaths I floated over a bit while Ryan went down to check the fish pot (always keeping a sideways eye on my buddy of course) And out of the depths loomed the bow of a wreck!! As ryan got to the surface I was a ball of excitement yelling - “Boat boat!! I found the boat!!” To which he was a bit confused as I said boat not ship or wreck (blame Freediver brain for that one!)
And so we swam over!! And there she was!! We found her.
We did some dives over her decks and I went inside the hold and saw the giant boiler and a few nice fat lionfish as well.
So tomorrow I am leading a group dive to the wreck site!! We will be playing on the wreck and clearing off any lionfish we find. After that we will be making lionfish ceviche on the beach and having a rum and coconut water while the sun sets and the weekend can begin!! I am beyond excited for the way things are going since I moved back home and so happy that I have such amazing friends to share these treasures with. Who knows what else we can find out there?! My dad also talks of a hurricane that destroyed over 150 ships along our coast. Just imagine what lays beneath the water for us to find. If you want to join us I have spaces available but they are booking out quick! Come with!
