Slowly but surely making progress on the lower body. My favourite pair of jeans fit better šŸ‘€ and I love my jeans šŸ˜ I need to kick it up a notch and see what that'll do for my still somewhat chabby thighs! I noticed some definition in my lower legs and I was like "Wow. You're really doing this"!!!

The front squat, an exercise that is heavily overshadowed by the typical barbell back squat however, has many beneficial adaptations when performed correctly:

āœ…Increases anterior core strength
āœ…Increases mobility
āœ…Improves back squat and deadlift strength
āœ…Improves athletic performance

Firstly, the upright position during a front squat is similar to those seen during jumping, bounding and sprinting. Therefore, building strength in the exercise, in particular knee and hip extension, will ultimately have a direct effect on these athletic movements.

Secondly, due to the bar position during the front squat a heavy load tries to pull the hips into flexion. Avoiding this requires the anterior core to stay active throughout full range leading to increase in core stability, essential for athletic performance.

Recently I have taken TWO big steps to help me continue building healthy habits and keep reaching goals. #1 I joined a gym and I am in heaven. I have always loved lifting weights and have really missed it. I also got to a point where I knew I needed to start heavy lifting if I want to reach my new goals. #2 I signed up for a half marathon! Itā€™s been 6 years since I did my first one and Iā€™m excited and nervous to do it again. This time Iā€™ll have my hubby running with me! šŸ‘ŠšŸ» Exciting things happening in the near future. .
