So, if we are being really honest here, I have been slacking on my #GirlPowerFriday series. The point of it is to be authentic and representative of girl power. I have a hard time posting something deep and meaningful if it isn't authentic. I don't want to force it if it isn't there- ya feel me?
I have been reflecting over the past 6 months, how far I've come, how I can improve - can you believe we're already halfway through the year? I used to compare myself to my college cohorts, seeing them move up in their 9-5 type careers. Deep inside, I always knew that was not my path- and I fought that for a long time. Growing up in a household with two parents who worked in steady, predictable "9-5" jobs- it felt scary to take the less beaten path. Recently, my dad called me and said to me, "you know, I know you're not a typical 9-5 working girl - but I'm incredibly proud of you and I know how hard you work." I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by family and friends who support, motivate and push me to my potential. Moral of the story- follow your journey, don't compare yours to others. Most importantly: WE ARE NOT COMPETING. I hope we all make it. ✨
