Homecomings can be intense when you’ve spent a while away. Time doesn’t wait for you. You get back and it feels like everything has changed, because everything that’s always been there looks different to you now.
Some people have asked me how I traveled for so long. And while 2.5 months really isn’t that much time, it is when you’re in a new country every week or every few days. Constantly switching languages, cultures, and currencies. After a while you get a bit dizzy.
You really learn to appreciate what you have at home. You learn that people are mostly the same everywhere, that our fantasies about other places are just our projections of our desires, which we can usually fulfill right at home.
