The view from the other side, the starting point of the Confederate line under Pettigrew during Pickett's Charge toward the Angle.
I try to imagine what a soldier might feel at the different locations and this one was terrifying. Ahead of you, there is a line of soldiers in blue looking down at you from higher ground, knowing you have to cross an open field with no cover but prayer.
It took the Confederate line nearly half an hour to charge across this field, nervous muscles twitching against brave wills pushing them forward against every human instinct to preserve one's life.
Could I do that? March into the business end of a cannon, across a field I might never leave to defend the honor of my home and something I believed in?
