Face pulls from my last back day! A huge benefit of adding face pulls into your workout routine is that it is effective in working multiple muscle groups. It works the deltoids, rotator cuff muscles , trapezius muscles , and rhomboids. Since many muscles and joints are being worked simultaneously during a face pull it is considered a compound movement.
What's a compound movement/exercise ? Compound exercises are beneficial in building muscle and burning fat. While performing a compound exercise multiple muscle groups are incorporated. This differs from an isolation exercise where one specific muscle is targeted.
Face pulls also help to achieve a rounded shoulder. When many of us perform exercises pushing away (bench press, shoulder press, etc.) incorporating face pulls, the pulling motion helps to balance this out. It does so by correcting the internal rotation of the shoulder joint.
Last but not least, face pulls improve posture - especially those of us sitting at a desk for work all day, sitting and being hunched over extremely weakens your back and shoulders. Good posture is important for spine health, digestion and your overall health.
Try doing this exercise on your next back or shoulder day, start with lighter weight to perfect your form before going heavy. Remember that good form + moderate weight > shitty form + heavy weight.
