To summer days 'working' outside all day in Denali with these pups.
Training starts with socialization, then encouragement to try the puppy wheel. Once they've mastered that we get them to follow-while jogging on the trail. When they start catching up at running speed we progress to a four wheeler. They will then get in harness for the first time running on line along side more experienced and mature athletes, who help keep them in line and show them the ropes. Eventually they will run as a team, gaining more experience on longer runs and racing. On hot summer days they even swim as a team.
While on Iditarod they will consume 10-12,000 calories a day. These guys train year round and are some of the most lovable and incredible athletes out there. They make Iditarod's 1,049 miles look easy. Give @huskyhomestead and the Iditarod a follow to see these guys in action. #iditarod #huskyhomestead #getitking #happytailsandhappytrails
