Day 11 of the Reduce Your Waste Challenge!
Today it's coffee! ☕🍵 Happy Sunday everyone. I love to have a coffee with my breakfast and I especially love to have good coffee.
There are so many ways to make coffee and some of them are more wasteful than others. Over the last decade #coffeecapsules have become incredibly popular with @nestle using #georgecloony to promote their unethical products globally. Coffee capsules made from plastic take over 500 years to decompose. Those made of aluminium pods take 200 years to degrade. There are billions of these little capsules polluting our oceans, forests and wildlife. Again this is just another product made to get you to buy more and waste more despite how harmful and damaging it's affects on the environment.
So what can be done? Any traditional coffee maker will do 😀 you can use a Turkish coffee pot, a French press or what I like to use a Moka pot/ cafetiere. Yes, it is green with an old man's hat for a lid and I love it like that!
When I'm finished there is no plastic or aluminium to throw away and the coffee grinds go to the compost 😀
