Good morning! It's a typical start to the day where I chase my kids around until they are finally captured in the bathroom to brush their teeth while I somehow manage to get myself ready for work and get out the door on time!
Anyway, my daily dose is definitely not about finding a working-mom balance (doesn't exist!) but about dental health and fluoride- a pretty controversial topic to some. The US added it our water supply back in the 1940s claiming it would help reduce tooth decay 🚰😳 Even my pediatrician asks to paint my kids teeth with fluoride at every visit and I kindly decline. Just b/c a doctor is following their pediatric or dental guidelines, does not mean you should/shouldn’t do something, just please do your research on the pros & cons first!
The problem is we are ingesting small amounts of fluoride over long periods of time which is causing chronic toxicity ☠️ Studies (from Harvard!🎓) are showing that this is having effects our bones, the brain 🧠, thyroid levels and even our children’s IQ!📚🤓
Yes, tooth decay exists and it's very prevalent in young children but this can be prevented by the simple act of brushing & flossing- even without toothpaste should you desire! Plaque (which causes the actual decay) is easily removed without fluoride and this is where the parents' role comes into play: to enforce/educate proper teeth brushing habits! 😁 AND a proper diet 🍽
I personally think it's very important to limit fluoride exposure for myself and my children by monitoring what I can with certain lifestyle choices, one of those being using fluoride-free toothpaste. I love Toms @toms_of_maine and so do they! 😁😁😁
