Kind of a weird photo for this occasion but let's just roll with it. Apparently today is #NationalComingOutDay and it's super important to me (for me?) to be a bit more vocal about the continuing importance that coming out plays for queer youth. It is très simple and it works like this: when you see people like you that are living happy, healthy lives, it gives you that much more courage and hope that you can be happy and healthy too. Maybe not right now, but one day. I was a very sad bean when I was younger, so now I try to be the kind of person I would have liked to look up to for support or reassurance that life would be okay.
In all honesty, even though I am v happy in this photo because I found the perfect pumpkin, I still struggle with identity and finding my place and everything else life throws at you as a young adult, probably because I have been too stubborn to ask for help for the past 10 or 12 years. All of this is to say that it's normal to struggle and that you should never be too proud or afraid to ask for help. Open dialogue is the way to go!
Ok. Go forth and spread love and happiness and understanding. And pet some puppies. ❤️🌈
