June 1 is the first day of Pride Month. Today, Tyson and I celebrated this day by putting up a Pride flag in the front lobby of the Hall Beach RCMP Detachment. Joining us were 18 community members (and family) from 8 community organizations. Tyson’s wife, Kris, baked cookies to mark the occasion and a reception was held at the detachment to open up the celebration of Pride.
Thank you to the Mayor of Hall Beach, Hall Beach Health Centre, Mental Health, Social Services, Arnaqjuak School, Conservation, Community Justice Outreach and North Warning System for showing up to support us on this day.
Pride month is about celebrating who you are as an individual. Today, in Hall Beach, we celebrate our open door. Both Tyson and I take pride in the fact that we are an inclusive and welcoming place for all. Throughout the world this month, celebrations will be held where people will come together to show their support for individuality. Here in Canada’s Arctic, we want everyone to know that we support you. Take a moment and celebrate with us, in this diverse country we live in.
Love is love is love,
