"One soldier touched a Singhni (Khalsa woman, lioness). She tackled him to the ground and pounded his ribs in. He screamed in pain to his comrades and 3 or 4 more guards arrived. The Singhni took the first guard's sword, and cut three more down. Other Singhnis grabbed their swords. Drawing the swords, the Singhnis attacked like cheetahs. Some 30 guards were wounded, 10 died. They gave the soldiers the taste of violating a Singhni. The other soldiers watched from afar; none would approach the Singhnis to fight. Without command, they fired upon the women with muskets and arrows" - Giani Gian Singh, Naveen Panth Prakash.
