OLYMPIAD . . .
This event was great but will never, ever be repated based on current riders / team priorities.
The Motorcycle Olympiad in the late 70's was a true test of man and machine. One rider on One bike competing in a wide variety of motorcycle events - Road Race, Drag Race, Short Track, Scottish Trials, Cross Country, Motocross all on two different days.
Each rider had NO mechanic, only themselves to setup and maintain their bike. Change slick tires to knobbys, as much as they wanted for each event.
The top left image shows Bob Hannah on the bench with Gary Semics getting water. The rider in red is Gaylon Mosier on his Wheelsmith Maico. The guy in the beard (middle left) is Jimmy Weinert with Kawasaki's team manager Steve Johnson overlooking Semics' bike prep.
Kent Howerton won the first Olympiad in 1977 and Bob Hannah won in 1978.
