This year Ironman 70.3 Bintan my ftp is falling and cycling vo2max are decrease in numbers due to lack of cycling training so i expect lower time from previous year. But cycling always be my favorite part from Triathlon and i feel very happy to ride again in familiar course of Bintan (previously 6x racing in Bintan). I rode my roadbike without aerobar and i was just maintaining my body in aero hood and drop as long as i can hold and change the position from time to time (do few stetch too) to prevent muscle fatigue or cramps. I am using Trek Madone, bontrager TT helmet & trishoe from build a bike and change the TT glass with rudy project glasses to flow more air to my head - it is something essential to keep your head cool in a hot weather race.
I also did not stop in any water station to save my time (see previous post about bike fuelling strategy). The results suprisingly beyond my expectation, new PR of the course. I believe my marathon training improve cardiovascular systems and small details that accountable for the results.
