I see so many wonderful gardens, projects, flowers and veggies and greenhouses here but rarely the creative, ambitious and talented gardeners who make them happen. So in an attempt to get to know some of you better I thought I'd kick off a kind of #gettoknowthegardener share. So here it goes ... Im Erynn, a twenty-something year old Mum to two brilliant and beautiful little girls. We are raising our daughters as well as backyard hens in the incredible Okanagan Valley in Southern BC, Canada.
I've always loved flowers and the outdoors. One of my first "jobs" was with a friend of my mums who owned a floral arrangements shop. And my Grandma, she had a wonderful garden when I was a child. Her apple pies with homegrown apples will go down in history as one of my favourite memories. I finally got to get my hands dirty and develop a real love for #gyo when my husband and I purchased our first house six years ago. It was 4 blocks from the downtown core on .1 of an acre and had a postage stamp back garden with a veggie plot and a shanty little shed. It was wonderful. We built an amazing urban garden on borrowed tools and salvaged materials and a lot of trial and error. However, we quickly outgrew our little post-war home, after the babies arrived, having twins will do that to you!
One year ago we upgraded to our current humble abode on .2 of an acre. Its been 365 days of interior renovations, raising our babies and revitalizing a pretty poorly utilized but massive backyard into the urban garden of my dreams. One of the things I love the most about our garden is that there is always something new to learn and something new to try. There is never a dull moment around these parts.
Now, won't you tell me about you? Where did you find your passion for gardening? Your favourite fruits and veg or florals to grow? What are you excited to try this season? Where abouts in the world are you from? I'd truly love to know!
