And after four weeks in Galway and walking by this statue every day on my way to work I found out who is this interesting lad!
Padraic Ó Conaire, a important writer, not only for his short stories books, but also for his political involvement. The original statue is in the Galway City Museum, but it’s original place was on Eyre Square since 1935 when a British Lord statue were substituted by Padraic O Conaire. The statue was decapitated in 1999 by vandals, after that they decided to keep it on a save place, but a replica was placed on Eyre Square.

GCM Collection| North Devon ware dish with a heraldic lion drawn in the Sgraffito method on the surface. Sgraffito -in Italian "to scratch" - is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of colour or colours to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay colour underneath.
The dish was used for serving food and probably also displayed on dressers.
