On Wednesdays we wear blue.
This gorgeous neoclassical house has one of the funniest stories you'll ever hear today.
The Blue Palace in Ciénaga is a MUST when you're visiting this ancient but magical place. It was built between 1924 and 1925 but there's not much information about the architect or the plans. Its distinctive color is due to a bet made by the owner, Adolfo Henríquez Díaz Granados. He was loyal to the liberal party which was represented by color red. If they loose the elections he would paint his house blue, which was the color of the opposite party. Now we surely know the verdict.
This two floor home has some strong Italian roots, the balconies are detailed in a way that's worth to stare, plus, being on a corner makes it the star of the block. Oh, and the cielings where painted by the Mexican Avilés. Classy, huh?
Taking a walk around this place, is a time machine. It's been named as the capital of magical realism. We're sure Gabo would be okey with that.
