At Culture Club Travel, we’re proud to be able to offer our clients the ability to give back to the land they’re visiting, whilst on holiday. 💚 The project below is one we recently came across 💚
The southernmost land mass in the South Pacific island nation of Fiji, Kadavu is rooted strongly in authentic Fijian culture and untouched tropical nature.
It is home to the third largest barrier reef in the world, The Great Astrolabe Reef, which is host to some of the most incredible dive sites and indigenous underwater species in the world.
There are very few resorts on the island and no connecting roads to lead from one side to the other making you feel like you are back in time and also making boat transportation vital. There are about 75 villages on the island made up of anywhere from 30 to 150 villagers with 1 chief per village. The Fijian villagers and chiefs are some of the most genuinely kind and good-hearted people in the world.
As holds true to Fijian culture, Kava or Yaqona, is certainly enjoyed daily by the locals. In fact, it’s found in excess around Kadavu and, on top of that, is known in all of Fiji to be the strongest available.
One could spend a lifetime exploring the nooks and crannies of the Kadavu archipelago in Fiji. The vibrant sea life, hospitable people, and fertile nature make it very difficult to leave. Vinaka Vakalevu.
This project is to aid the good people the amazing folks behind this campaign encountered on the island, particularly the village of Naivakarauniniu and Vunisei Dristrict School.
They need resources that we wouldn’t normally even think twice about having in our daily lives: water catchment reservoirs, drainage systems, a seawall to protect the 16 village houses from the rising sea levels.
