External rotation.

If you aren’t incorporating some level of external rotation into you resistance training routine you are doing yourself an incredible disservice.

The muscles worked in external rotation are major stabilizers of the shoulder joint, if they are weak or underdeveloped you will not have proper stabilization in the shoulder and are exposing yourself to a high probability of shoulder pain or injury in the near future.

Now a couple band face pulls at the start of your workout is better than nothing but if you are more advanced and doing a fair bit of heavy pressing you will want to step your game up.

Some pink physio dumbbells won’t cut it, aim to get stronger in this movement, obviously not sacrificing form for weight but you should be able to progress the weight substantially over time.

Here I am doing a half Cuban press, I find these brilliant for working external rotation and can really feel the shoulder stabilize at the top.

4 sets of 10 at the start of my workout (not to failure!)
I use this is a primer and before I start my main workout, the goal is not to fatigue the rotators but strengthen them over time and have them engaged properly before my lift.

-So this coming up Monday(because we all know you're hitting chest then)😂.. try these variations of the dreaded #pushup ... use them as finishers at the end of your workout to really shock the chest! Trust me, itll humble you for sure

-The first is a strict weighted pushup, try and use a buddy, load a couple plates relative to your strength. And do as many as you can, drop a plate, and repeat until failure with body weight.

-the second, all you need is a weighted ball, and simply go back and forth between a pushup and half a chest fly.
