If you are not taking care of your physical body, there is a 0% chance that you’re going to become the version of yourself that you want to be.
~ Rachel Hollis
Loving this book and this statement spoke to me. As a mom, I know how hard it is to make time for yourself. Let’s face it, we’re so busy taking care of everyone else, not to mention the house, the bills, the laundry, cooking, cleaning, (the list goes on and on), that we can so easily forget to take care of ourselves.
I was that person. I was so consumed with making sure everyone else was okay that I wasn’t paying attention to my own body.
Being diagnosed with thyroid cancer really put things into perspective. I had to take a step back and let someone else take care of things for a while. The house didn’t fall apart and our lives didn’t crumble. We survived and I got better.
But things changed for me. I realized that I needed to take time for ME, even if it means waking up and hour earlier. I’ve come to love this time of day. Everyone else is asleep and it’s just me, working on myself to be happier and healthier.
I’ve become so in tune with my body. I’m a better mom, a better partner. I finally FEEL good.
It’s not easy to take the first step. Remember that you cannot pour from an empty cup. Fill it.
