I trip over my own two feet and drop things more than I could ever count. My mom's always called me her clumsy child. It was always a funny running joke. But I didn't think that sort of thing that I could ever change.
The more I get into fitness, the stronger I get, the more I realize how incredibly weak I am when it comes to balance and mobility, which is basically my clumsiness.
I got a new cross training shoe today that I was told would specifically help this problem, as well as help my technique and form on certain lifts.
So today I made sure to add in some core, balance, and mobility strengthening exercise into my leg day. This shows what I came up with: single leg deadlift, placing the dumbbell on either side of the standing dumbbell. Its not pretty, or near perfect by any means, but by the end of my 5 sets I could already tell a difference in my balance and mobility.
For me, the gym has filled a huge void in my life. It keeps me out of trouble, and keeps my mind right. Incorporating different kinds of workouts, from weight training, to boxing, to HIIT, to running, to agility, keeps me from bulking up or getting bored.
Life isn't a race or competition, so find happiness in the journey til you come to that inevitable finish line.
Shoutout to SPARK for fueling this lunchtime workout between a long day at work.
