ENGAGE YOUR CORE. How many times have you attended classes or personal training sessions where you're endlessly ordered to engage your core? It is CRUCIAL to engage your core to ensure proper muscle activation, postural correction, and even safe exercise execution. .
What drives me BALOOOOBAS is when you are instructed to just "suck in your core". Don't do this, please remember to breath 😉😂❤️ .
1️⃣ You should brace your core as if your are preparing to bounce a tennis ball off it or maybe get a light box to the stomach. 2️⃣ Your chest should appear tall & proud, with your shoulders rotated back, 3️⃣ While your pelvis is tucked in gently and glute muscles are firing to engage the lower core area.
In the first image, my core is not braced, my chest is collapsed and my pelvis is sky high. I'm performing a move yes. But the benefits are minimal, you may burn some calories, but you'll be doing more bad than good in relation to posture & core strengthening. In the second, my chest is proud, my pelvis is tucked in, and my core is braced, and with each climb, I have to focus hard to keep in this position and ensure I don't start to shift towards the incorrect position. Be aware of how you position and activate your core for all moves like this, and stay aware throughout the set! 😉 (Mountain climbers, planks, plank jacks, push ups, shoulder taps, superman plank/push, commandos, you get the picture!) .
