I have a bone to pick with the #bodypositive community. It's not the community itself but those who feel they can use the phrase to enhance their status. Usually these people are cisgender, able-bodied, thin, white people. You know, the essence of beauty for the past 100 years. Fuck them. You guys had your moment, let us have our one thing. Let us prove normality isn't about just looking like Barbie.
I use to stick up for y'all saying "bodyposi is for everyone" but now it's become a marketing scheme for both followers and money. You click the hashtag #bodypositivity and you'll see abs galore. You're allowed to be proud of that, but how can you take one tiny little thing from us?
Now it's all weight loss transformations and bullshit about people who have never been shamed for their perfect bodies. Never had to explain why they're eating a burger or perming their hair, or using a cane. I refuse to use the tag anymore, but will continue appreciating my own fat blobby flaws as I will continue to appreciate all the bodies in every shape, size, color, and mobility.
