So ladies, does anyone carry self protection weapons?
As much as i consider myself to be pretty strong and capable and as much as I've been loud and proud in the #metoo and #reclaimthenight movements.. It doesn't mean i always feel real time safe.
In the past year I've been followed home multiple times, I've had to shout at pests on the street to back off at night, i had a scary run in with an a-hole who chased me with scissors when i had my girl in her pram because I stumbled across him stealing a bike, I've had my drink spiked and my house robbed while I was sleeping(sadly I think Berlin is becoming a lot more unsafe), and I had another incident this week in Melbourne.
Due to work i walk home or to accom often at night & travel alone all the time; after dark I almost always pretend to be on the phone, i have my keys clutched between my fingers, and slam the door quickly behind myself.
I'm sick of it. I don't want to be scared by man-creeps anymore. .
So as much as I'd like not to give a fuck, i do care for my safety, and my ability to protect my child. So what do ppl keep on them? Alarms? Mace? Or can I just jump straight to knives and knuckle dusters? Jks... kinda...👊🙅🏻💣
