"What's an ombre?" is a common question. Ombre, Balayage, partial highlight, full highlight... gosh! How do you even know what to ask for? My advice to clients is, bring in a picture of the look you'd like to achieve and your stylist will cut through the word jungle for you. Just be mindful of the fact that the color you're aiming for may take a few visits to reach, depending on your goal and start color. Generally speaking though, the classic look of an ombre, stands for a highlighted color (technique free to choose) where the ends are either solidly lighter or appear much lighter than the middle and top part of the hair. A balayage is, typically speaking, a much more sunkissed look and can be done with both heavy and low contrast. The ends can be solid blonde, but if the roots are visibly darker, like with this client in the video, you're most likely looking at an ombre.
