Alcohol and I have never gotten along. Whenever I would have a few drinks I always ended up with the worst hangover, but it was so much more than a headache. My entire body would be out of whack, and it would take at least a day for my blood sugar, hormones, and digestive system to return to normal. As time went on I learned what I could drink and how much in order to minimize the damage. 2 glasses of wine is pretty much my max now when I grab a few drinks with friends every now and then. What has helped me a ton is having great probiotic and magnesium supplements to take with a big glass of water when I get home, no matter how many hours ago my lass glass was. This lets my body recalibrate overnight and I wake up feeling great! I’m not bogged down, foggy, bloated, and overall miserable anymore just from a glass of wine. As I’ve worked to put my body in equilibrium, I find that it goes back to being in balance so much easier now. Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean you can’t ever have fun! But it does mean listening to your individual body.
