Today I had the chance to slip out of town and take a quick trip up to Asheville, NC with my family. I honestly had no intentions of dropping in on any breweries while I was because I had my family with me. We ended up having lunch right across the street from French Broad River Brewery, so I decided to walk over and check it out. Almost immediately after walking in I was welcomed by Aaron Wilson (head brewer) who took the time to show me around, give me the history of the brewery, and let me try a few beers (I had the "Wee-heavy-er" and "Gateway Kolsch"). Even though I was only there for a short while, I went from feeling like I was talking to someone I just met to feeling like I was hanging out with an old friend. The environment was warm and humble, and the beer was delicious. I can't wait to visit again.
