Randomly, I’ve gotten so many messages about my guest room, including questions about my list of guest room must-haves... so here goes.
Firstly - fun fact: vertical lines play tricks on the human eye. So I added white vertical shiplap on my guest room walls, and immediately the 8 ft. ceilings looked 10ft tall 🙌🏻.
My guest room must-have list is simple. I put a power strip on each side of the bed so that guests can plug in as many things as needed. I keep a box fan and extra blankets & pillows in the closet. Books and/or magazines on the foot of the bed. How many times have you stayed with someone, said ‘goodnight’ for the evening only to realize that you’re hungry and thirsty?! Or that you have a headache. 😬 Well that’s literally me every time I stay with someone. Which is why, in my guest room, I provide a basket filled with healthy snacks, fruit, bottled water, late-night treats, and Advil. I also have our WiFi info framed on the desk. Not pictured: I usually put fresh flowers and a bottle of wine w/ wine glasses in the room as well.
P.S. Scored the wooden “Guest Room” sign on the door from a seller on Etsy, and it’s an antique taken from an early-1900s ship 🚢😍
