We had a wedding yesterday and we have this Saturday off! I'm hoping to go thrifting today to find more things to hang on this wall. I have an obsession with old paintings (inner grandmother comes out in my home decor tastes) ... bought this one a while back, but can't bring myself to hang it (its been sitting on the back of our couch for weeks) until I know what else is gonna go on this wall! //
And here is the deal - I need to explain a weird quirk when it comes to decorating. // Normally I wouldn't hang a painting of a ship in a main area of our house because.... we don't live by the ocean! I've made this rule for myself that I would try to find artwork that celebrates the landscape we live near, for fear that beach/ocean imagery would make me sad that I wasn't at the beach! ha. Anyway, this painting's colors just seemed perfect for our living room... and I like the ship, so I think I'm breaking my rule. BUT, that means I need to find some other interesting things that do celebrate our landscape to hang in this area as well.... obviously I'll be looking for vintage landscape paintings today, but anyone else got any other ideas? Trying to channel @joannagaines creativity... Have you decorated any part of your home with the idea of celebrating the area you live in? What are your favorite wall hanging pieces in your home? I want to hear and learn from you! Oh and do you have any favorite antique stores outside of the Nashville area to find good deals at? Right now I think we are heading to Portland, Tn - but I'm open to other suggestions!
