Words of wisdom.

I grew up in an era where we idolized Victoria’s Secret models and Britney Spears in her killer Slave 4 U outfit.
As someone who spent a good 15 years in a leotard and tights practicing ballet there was always an emphasis placed on aesthetics.
Yes I’m naturally “skinny”.
No I was never overweight.
But I have been called names like “skinny bitch” and have comments made to me (or heard without others knowing) that haven’t made me feel the best about my body.
Growing up I WISHED I had curves. I wanted to wear a real bra without feeling completely flat and I had zero confidence in a bikini because I had an athletic build, not a womanly build.
Body shaming is real and can happen to anyone. If you talk down on anyone for the way their body looks in ANY way you are a bully and you are shaming.
Today I love my body because it’s strong.
Because I work HARD for it.
Because it’s MINE.
I’m grateful for companies like @aerie and @frandenim who stand for women of all shapes and sizes. Aerie has a no retouch policy and has beautiful models of every size in their ads while Fran Denim makes jeans that us girls who lift can actually get their quads in comfortably.
Be proud of the skin you’re in no matter what stage of your fitness journey you’re on. Health + Happiness come first always ❤️
