Today is a very important day, for members of #thechurchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints, as we celebrate the pioneer men, women & children of our faith, who bravely sacrificed everything, including their lives, to journey to Salt Lake City, so that they, along with future generations, may practice their faith and worship our Lord and Savior, freely.
The Chen family shared this about their ancestors, "My great-great great grandpa James Boden and great great great grandma Annora Boden crossed the ocean from Wales, leaving behind their beautiful life they had there. Two and a half weeks shy of entering the Salt Lake Valley Annora gave birth to a baby boy. Two weeks later she buried that same baby boy on the side of a trail just outside Echo Canyon. Her husband James was suffering from mountain fever. Upon entering the Salt Lake Valley James Boden died the next day. He sacrificed everything for his family. Annora made her living making Welsh candy and supported her nine remaining children. She was very successful and compassionate. She was eventually able to open a small hotel that she named, 'Grandma Boden's!' There's so much more to say about these two but I'm so happy and blessed to be related to people who never gave up on their dreams and their faith in God!"
