Today is my 41st Birthday.....and today I caught my heels in Kapotasana on my own for the first time.
.
🔹I have been practicing this posture for over 7 years and you know those nemesis postures???Its been a struggle....my fear was HUGE! 🔹I’ve rehabbed a back injury in that time. I’ve gone from leaving it out altogether to modifying in various ways over the years and honestly I never thought the full expression of this posture would ever be on my radar.

🔹I rarely film my practice but today I felt like something had shifted. So here I am...exposing my most vulnerable posture hopefully to show that things can change. We can create different neural pathways so something that once felt fearful becomes possible and maybe even enjoyable! 😎🙏🎉

🗓🎲🎛Day 2️⃣1️⃣ of #Yoga4x7 with @cyogalab 🔀  #KalaBhairavasana 🎛🎲🗓
It’s one thing to hold Side Plank, or to climb the leg onto that shoulder for Visvamitrasana (baby version attempted this past week!) but, doing so with a leg, heavy as a log, on the back of the neck, brings things to a whole other level, right? If you’re close to it, you can do several things today: keep using one hand to make the foot stay in place as you kneel on the other leg and palm (don’t lift that knee up, it’s very tricky to balance and I’d encourage you to better work on the #hipopener), make that famous loop with your strap and wrap it tightly around the shoulder and foot, so things don’t move. Turn the gaze up towards the ceiling as the base palm and foot keep pressing down. Maintain both, that elbow and knee, straight to help you stay solid and with the hips high. If you’re not close at all, sit or lay on your back once more and do the version that you feel works best to open up. This is an achievable pose if you practice diligently those hip openers. I’m really happy you decided to join in, especially if your hips don’t cooperate. It takes a lot of guts, maturity and detachment to step outside our comfort zone like that so, regardless of results, congrats and wait for tomorrow’s modifications before giving a break to those poor hips….#keeppracticing and let’s continue onto our final week!! For translation in other languages, follow and check out daily these accounts:

Wide legged forward fold! Into a sneaky headstand.

What energizes you? It depends! Some days being with friends and exercising, other days it’s journaling, meditating, and taking some me time. It’s all about balance 💚.

The lines that have developed on my face are there to remind me of who I am, they aren’t there to remind me of my age. They are triggers to prompt me of who I was, am and will continue to be. They remind me of my dad and of my mom. As my brother ages, it’s obvious we are cut from the same cloth. Some may see crows feet, I see lines to my eyes that have cut a path to a lot of memories. Those lines around my mouth, show that I wear a smile as much as my favorite yoga pants. Those crevices deepen with every laugh, side smirk and grin. Those lines on my face...are my identity and all my lines indicate happy. ◾️◾️◾️#AloyogAdventure Day 12 #LINES

today's #modificationmonday was inspired by the awesome and wonderful @yogamovesms! when i was at the @accessibleyoga conference in the spring i met her and won her book. it's chock full of adaptive yoga for those with MS but really, anyone who wants to spice it up will find something amazing in this almost 400 page book.

this version of half moon is great for me because of my t-rex arms. i'm bringing the floor to me by resting my forearm on the chair. this pose can also be practiced with the wall for some extra love. 💜

We are all designed differently, some better at bending forward, others are brilliant back benders and there some lucky breed which are flexible in any direction. But sometimes when it is too easy we are letting our guards down and ending up with some silly injuries. I leaned my lesson the hard way 😂☺️. What a great day for practice!
