As a person who has been painting for a long time now, I think I understand (atleast to a certain extent) what emotions an artist experiences when he enters an art supplies store. His joy, when he enters the shop full of colours, art brushes and other equipment, equals the joy of a small child when he enters a toy room. He feels a sudden burst of excitement and has an umpteen desire to buy every single thing in there.
I brought an artists knife set 4 years back. At that point of time, I had no idea what I could do with those knives, but I bought them anyways, probably because these "knives" no where resembled the "knives" that I was used to seeing at home...*shrugs*. So I bring this knife set home, and it remains dumped in some isolated, dark corner of my cupboard collecting dust, until last week I finally pluck up courage to put them into use. And DAMN!
WHY DID I NOT USE THEM EARLIER?!? These knives so beautifully bring out the warmth, brightness and vibrancy of the colours used and give the painting a beautiful feel and texture. These paintings were my first attempts at knife paintings, something I tried without anyone's guidance. But I loved doing these so much that I am pretty sure that I will be working with art knives more often. :)
