Been down mentally the last couple days. Having the best meet prep of my life, hit a lifetime squat PR on Sunday. Then I woke up Monday morning barely able to walk on my right knee. I got know clue what happened, sunday I finished my workout strong. Cant go into deep knee flexion w/ out pain. Feels stable, no swelling, just an odd super tight feeling. Maybe I needed to be humbled I dont know. Anyways, today I said fuck it and trained around it. Hit a box squat rep PR, Speed deads w/ #FormCollar and accessories. Hopefully things get better by Sunday. #NoExcuses

Excited to start using this guy today! The FORM Collar is a great tool that gives us a consistent objective method to make sure the training load is optimal. While the percents and RPE are still valid, without measuring velocity, it is not possible to determine objectively if the weight is being moved at the appropriate load for that given day, as strength is quite variable from day to day. This is essentially because our nervous system is never constant. According to a review paper from the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association, Jovanovic and colleagues’ used formulas by Jidovtseff to estimate a daily 1RM through the load-velocity profile. They noted an approximately 18% difference above and below the previously tested 1RM, meaning that there was a 36% range around the previously tested 1RM. Dont think Ill ever do a #DynamicEffort day without again. I felt terrible and slow. The first sets were around .6-.74m/s I felt it forced me to approach the bar and pull with vicious intent, trying to get faster and faster. Its like #LouieSimmons says. Strength is measured in time and speed work is mostly about intent. Finally understand that now that Im sore AF just from 27 violent singles at only 430lbs. ➖➖➖➖➖
Side note➡ Yes a small form of #VelocityBasedTraining #VBT but at this time im just using it to push myself, not really anything else, although i have been collecting data, which I might use for my athletes in the future. #LetsImprove #WestsidePerformance

Decent session about 10kg heavier than programmed but I had it in my head I wanted to push the boat. Made all the reps except on the 5th set on 260 where I got 2 of 3. Probably could have got 3 but form was naughty. So dropped down to 250 the weight it was meant to be and it felt steady enough.
