Tuck yeah?!?! More like tuck NEVER!!! In going through our barre teacher training today we spent A LOT of time discussing the difference between lengthening and engaging vs. forceful clenching and restriction of movement; or as what happens in a "tuck." If you want to lengthen and expand your spine, try drawing your abdominals in and up to manipulate your pelvis to tilt. The motion comes from your core, synchronized with your breath; NOT from forcefully clenching your butt and "tucking"! .
Not sure if you are doing your pelvic tilt correctly? You should be able to breathe and dance your hips side-to-side! .
The @pursuemovement method of training challenges you to find structure and strength in a position or movement, and balance it with freedom, fluidity, and breath! .
So down with the "tuck" and up (literally) with the "tilt."!
