As you may have read in my older posts, I now train to be smaller then I previously was and stay toned. My training style today remains the same, but I’ve had to make some adjustments and train strategically for each muscle group that I either want to shape or bring down. I often catch myself rapidly going back to my old habits, lifting heavy weights like I am still competing and trying to put on size. My body wants to grow, it’s what it’s been told to do for so long so I really have to watch myself - what I train, how I train it and how often I train it. I have not trained quads, arms or back in 9 months. No matter how light or sporadically I’d train those muscle groups, they would naturally devolve so I decided to cut them completely from my training split...for now.
Sometimes, I want to go in the gym and leave all I got under the barre. You know what I’m talking about!! There is nothing like a crazy leg or back workout but I enjoy more and more how I train today. I find pleasure in focusing on my new goals and practicing different physical activities. I am even considering doing Ballet again...
All this to say that, you have to decide what your goal is and do whatever it takes to get there. It may take some adjustments, trials and errors, a lot of effort but eventually you will get to a place where you will see yourself getting closer and closer to that goal. Have fun along the way! That is the most important and it will help you stick with it.
