👶🍭🍼 Day 1️⃣7️⃣ of #DontCallMeBaby ↪️ #Lotus or #Padmasana in #ForearmBalance or #PinchaMayurasana 🍼🍭👶Continuing with yesterday’s #Lotus theme, let’s work on it while doing Pincha. You’ll get more out of it if you warm up the hips a bit with some standing poses as well as seated ones in Half or Full Lotus. The more automatic you make the rotation happen, the easier to nail it upside down. Attempting it in Shoulderstand and/or Headstand are great prior steps to this one. Once you can fold the legs there easily, this is the next #inversion to try, keep at it and it’ll happen soon! Tuck the first leg with its foot as close to the groin as possible, knee always pointing up. Bend the second one in and rotate at the hip so its knee starts to point out. Bring that foot closer to the other thigh and, if you touch it, crawl the toes over the shin. When you do this over and over and over, and work deeper hip openers (Yogidandasana, Eka Pada Sirsasana), the legs will fold without barely touching each other, going ‘flop’ and ‘flop’ and you’re done! One day!!! It’s important to keep the legs active and don’t get lost in the lotus movement, not just to keep balancing but also to not collapse into the shoulders. I felt it was due a #yogachallenge where we could work, for almost a month, on the ‘baby’ versions of arm balances as well as Forearmstand. Whether you want to acquire more strength, learn new variants to arm balances and inversions, you have wrist issues, mental blockages or fears of falling, the idea is that, by the end of it, you’ll have developed and outgrown some/all of those issues, you’ll feel stronger, more confident, bendier, wiser and you’ll have a bigger database of poses to practice (or teach) so you can access them as needed. If you’ve ever done a ‘baby’ #armbalance you probably know there’s nothing ‘simpler’ about it, often times, it requires more flexibility, core engagement or upper body strength, but you're also closer to the ground so it puts the mind at ease and helps us develop the confidence necessary to dare to think ‘we CAN’. I had many a plan to get this shot done... to first get into #padmasana legs and then crawl up to grazed elbows 😨😨 (t was done yesterway with success, right???) and then hit a quick pincha.
Sooooooooo Noooooot. 😥😣😑
So the fact that I got into pinchamayurasana and THEN managed to wiggle into lotus legs is a high point for me 🙆🙆🙆❤❤❤
