Martin Truex, Jr. 8 Wins. 26 Top 10's. 3 Poles. 2,253 Laps Led. Most wins on 1.5-mile-tracks in a single season. And the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Champion.
The 37-year-old Jersey native, had a career season, with more than doubling his career total of wins, but also finishing in the 10, in all but 10 of the 36 races. Not the mention, the total dominance, with a total of 19 Stage Wins, and 4 regular season wins, Truex was well set off the Miami, with no issues.
In the first stage in the season finale, at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Truex finished 5th, also being the last car competing in the Championship 4. Truex would finish Stage 2, runner-up to Kyle Larson, making him the highest scoring Championship contender. Truex was able to get to the lead late, and held off Kyle Busch to win his first NASCAR Cup Championship, 12 years after his final NASCAR Xfinity Championship.
