This is a test😜: Who can identify these blossoms? This time of year even common little leaves and humble flowers (if there can be such a thing) are so cheerful. Hint: they are probably one of the hardiest shrubs in our climate. #forcingblooms#yeggardens#simplethings#waitingforspring
While it's definitely still winter outside, it's positively spring in my dining room - thanks to a cutoff branch that would have been destroyed. Look what some Love, sun & warmth does... #allyouneedislove #happygirl
Bursting forced quince are all about the red house, teasing the hell out of us while we impatiently wait for the snow and cold to be finally gone! We've been working away these last winter days getting our summer workshops and schedule ready to announce to you guys! More soon.
Easy like Sunday morning...having fresh flowers on your window sill, especially at this time of the year. You can snip branches off of trees and shrubs whose buds are swelling and they will open up inside just like these Star Magnolia blossoms. Some favorites to try include forsythia, quince, any large flowered magnolias, and cherries. Look for buds that are already showing color and cut them BEFORE they get hit by sub freezing temps, which are forecast for later this week. Put the cut stems in any container that holds water, and check water level and change water every couple days. #cutflowers#forcingbranches#forcingblooms#starmagnolia#sharethelex#gardening#garden#visitlex
