In Brief: Wakes up at 4am everyday -> 2 star recruit out of HS -> Delivered pizza -> Transferred to Wisconsin -> Drafter by Texans, people hated the pick -> 3x NFL Defensive Player of the Year -> Raised $37m for Harvey victims.

Reflection: Watt worked harder than anyone to accomplish his dream. The next you’re doing something that’s hard and you feel like you want to quit, don’t quit.  Practice perseverance every day in your life. Think about one thing in your life that could benefit from more perseverance. Now go do it!

Today is J.J. Watt’s birthday and this post is to celebrate the beast that he is. J.J. Watt is a defensive end for the Houston Texans and one of the best at what he does. He was told he was “too small and not big enough” to ever play professional football. He let opinions of bringing him down inspire himself. Watt got up at 4am to work out each day. He went on to play football at Central Michigan as a tight end but after the first game, he knew this wasn’t the right path. Before transferring to Wisconsin, he delivered pizza for Pizza Hut. One time when delivered pizza, a little boy recognized and was surprised to see that Watt was delivering pizza to him. The boy asked his mom why Watt was delivering his pizza when he’s a football player. Watt saw this is a moment about how he wasn’t great anymore and used this as leverage to get a scholarship from the University of Wisconsin. He received the scholarship and was a stud at UW. He vowed to himself that he will never fail which resulted in being drafted by Houston as the 11th overall pick in the draft. Some Houston fans scrutinized the pick and didn’t believe in Watt. He sure as well proved them wrong as you know how successful he is now. But it’s what Watt did off the field that makes him a true success. After Hurricane Harvey, he asked his followers on social media to donate money to support victims of Hurricane Harvey. He ended up raising over $37m to help those who were affected. Now he is recovering from a leg injury and working to be bring home that Super Bowl trophy.

Fun Fact: He goes to bed at 7:30pm and wakes up at 4am every day to work out.
