Started this morning with a delicious and rosy breakfast for a very exciting week ahead. 🌸😊👏🏻 1 kiwi, 1 Tbsp flaxseeds, 2 Tbsp hempseed, 1/3 cup coconut milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 frozen pack @pitayaplus + 1/2 inch fresh ginger root, 1/2 inch fresh turmeric root & 1/2 cup ice. When you’re too excited and want a piece of chicken 👀😝🍗

The loss is even greater as we age! You may have up to 20% less collagen in your skin when you hit 40s.
What to do about it? While we can't completely reverse aging, we can slow it down significantly with proper nutrition, nutrient timing and supplementation.
Some of the things you can start doing today:
1. Make sure to consume enough vitamins essential for collagen production. One of these is C. Eat lots of colorful veggies and berries, limiting your fruit consumption. Supplement with vitamin C and use topical vitamin C serums!

2. Reduce sugar intake! Sugar does speed up collagen break down. By sugar I don't mean just table sugar. And if you have not so great blood sugar control, consider a very low carb diet for some time.
3. Make sure to consume adequate amounts of high quality protein to supply amino acids for collagen production.
4. Add collagen supplements to your diet. Proline is the amino acid that is abundant in collagen. Even though it's non-essential, you still need to make sure to get good amounts from your diet because our bodies are lazy and will only make the bare minimum needed for survival and disease prevention. Beautiful skin requires extras!

5. Practice intermittent fasting! Emerging research has revealed that fasting activates autophagy - an internal process of "eating up" dead, defective and improperly functioning cells and their components. By cleaning up "garbage" autophagy stimulates synthesis of new cells to replace the old ones. That's how we renew our bodies and our skin by producing new collagen!

Nightshades , such as tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes, and peppers, are foods that have different nutrient profiles than other common fruits and veggies.

Depending on the variety, they contain different alkaloids (compounds) that either provide health benefits, or have negative side effects (inflammations the gut, heartburn, etc), all depending on your individual sensitivities.

Unfortunately, they are a pretty common intolerance for many people (including Tom Brady!). Foods like peppers and tomatoes are typically regarding as “healthy foods”, but they can wreck havoc if you don’t listen to your body.

Personally, I do not have an issue with nightshades, so I try to include them in my diet to reap their unique nutritional benefits. -

Here I made some roasted eggplant, with avocado oil, garlic powder, paprika (which coincidentally is a nightshade vegetable!), and salt. Super easy, and tasty!
