There's a difference between enjoying food and using food to escape. Food addiction is just like any other addiction. Any addiction is used to get you out of the way you feel. Food addiction shows on you one moment you find yourself taking food and eating though you don't need to. You notice the moment's you feel really sad and you run to the fast-food line. You notice the moment's that people tell you that you've picked up a ton of weight and you just put your head down because all it does is make you feel bad. You hear it's bad for you, but you can't stop eating. Mine is loneliness, sometimes I eat I'm not hungry I'm lonely I want love from others I feel I lack some days. I don't know what yours is. Eating disorders are not just anorexia it's eating more when you get depressed. Growing up my weight was always talked about and I binge eat. I think when people mention my weight I get bothered. It's like you feel like you need food when you get emotional.
A person overeating probably already knows this and can't stop. If food makes you feel better, if you have a problem with emotional eating, and binge eating. You are not alone it's an actual thing to be addicted to food. It's all about not hating yourself, and remembering to love yourself. Be understanding that it's not your fault stuff that happens to you causes eating disorders.
