Thanks to everyone who took the time to wish me well this last day or so, all your messages mean so much to me!

So let me explain a bit...
.
Basically, my kidneys aren't working properly, which means they are unable to get rid of the waste potassium in my system.
.
This has led to me having really high potassium levels - potassium works in a way that it controls muscle spasms by sending out kinda like an electrical impulse. Too much of it can cause big spasms in the heart, leading to cardiac arrest.
.
Potassium is found in loads of foods, such as potatoes, brocolli, bananas and most protein sources. A diet really high in protein can raise potassium levels but clearly so can a varied vegetarian diet, so the cause for me is not clear yet.
.
What next? If the blood retests come back the same, straight to hospital for an IV drip to flush out my system then monitor what happens and hope my kidneys are ok.
.
In the meantime - i have dropped protein levels significantly and am trying to omit the foods with the most potassium levels.
.
How much protein? Advice varies. Some say 1g per 1lb bodyweight, others 1-1.5g per 1lb LEAN bodyweight. So i've dropped down to 1g per 1lb Lean Mass, which for me is about 150lbs so 150g protein per day (i usally shoot for 180-200g).
.
What is really odd is usually low carb diets LOWER your potassium levels, so i'm not convinced it's down to diet just yet having been low carb for 2 weeks.
.
What it now means is i will have to add some carbs back in to account for the lowered protein, but i'm going to have this via my PWO shake and my first PWO meal (60mins after post-training shake).
.
Then aim for moderate protein, lots of salad and veggies and higher fats at my other 3 meals, keeping calories the same at 2200 per day.
.
I've weighed in and i'm down 2lbs this week, that's 5lbs in a fortnight, so very happy with that progress!!

Happy weekend peeps hope you’re enjoying sunshine ☀️ I’m celebrating spring with my vanilla yogurt breakfast tarts with beloved berries 😍 recipe 👇🏼 Granola breakfast tarts with berries
Ingredients
1 1/2 cup homemade granola
2tbs coconut oil (melted)
2tbs maple syrup
Pinch of salt
1tsp Vanilla essence
Vanilla yogurt to fill the tarts
Berries for decoration
Instructions
To make the crust add granola,coconut oil,maple syrup,salt and vanilla essence to a food processor pulse until small grains clumps together. Press the granola mixture firmly into the non stick tart tins and bake it for 10min in the oven 160•c until golden brown. Remove the tarts from its shells cool it down and fill with yogurt. Top it up with berries, mint and granola.
You can make the tarts night before and fill it with yogurt and toppings in the morning.
