Give me all the warm drinks 🙏 Hope you're off to a great week and had an awesome weekend. I sure did... and I’m not saying why, YET! But will be dishing real soon 🤐😏 Oh and if you want in on this drink, it’s my PSTL (not to be confused with a PSL), this is a pumpkin spice turmeric latte and it’s heavenly!! Grab the recipe below. 🤙🎃

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup almond milk
3 Tbsp pumpkin puree
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp melted coconut oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp fresh grated ginger or ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground clove
1/8 tsp ground cardamom
pinch of black pepper (to activate the turmeric)
optional sweeteners like honey or coconut nectar
1/4 cup full-fat coconut milk for topping

DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan, add all ingredients (except coconut milk) and whisk over low heat.
Mix it for approx. 5 minutes or so until well heated and somewhat combined (the puree should be dissolved, the spices will probably still be allover the place).
Add mixture to a blender and blend on high until you have a thicker orange milk with spices combined well.
Pour into your mug(s) and separately, steam coconut milk in a frothier or you can rinse your blender and use that on high until you have a nice foam.
Pour coconut milk on top of your pumpkin spice turmeric milk and add a little more cinnamon over top and serve!

I had an interesting encounter with a homeless woman today. Long story short, I brought her to Subway to buy her a meal. She told me she was pregnant and just needed to eat, so I helped out. As she’s ordering the Monday Meatball special, she turns to me and goes, “you look so thin, like you must be a vegetarian... maybe I should have gotten a vegetarian sandwich”. She looked down at the floor after already showing she was self conscious to have a stranger buy her dinner even though I tried to play it off like no big deal and now she’s doubting her food choices. I was honestly shocked that amidst the troubles she told me about including not knowing where she’d sleep tonight while being pregnant... that diet and body image was also an issue. I encouraged her to eat whatever she wanted that I would pay for either and that P.S I’m not a vegetarian. She looked up pretty shocked at that and finished getting her meatball sub. I kept it brief, wished her well, and encouraged her to get an additional water to stay hydrated. (I can’t help myself)

I guess it just disturbs me enough when we all pick ourselves apart for what we look like and eat, and to hear it from someone who’s especially down on their luck really stuck with me. I was drawn to her and felt like I needed to help her or she was going hungry tonight. I think I needed to hear her stories too. I think this was an important reminder for me to see how deeply this shit affects us all and we don’t even realize it... but also hopefully, that others’ support can make a small difference somehow. .

Keeping those #fryday vibes alive. I basically don’t like yams or the orange sweet potatoes any other way. Anyone else? Baked is too mushy and sweet for me and truthfully, I used to GAG on yams as a kid... my mom would beg me to eat them and I LOATHED them. Now I like them but still have my moments depending on my mood, but FRIES? Fries never die. I will always eat them this way.

{RECIPE BELOW} Have you ever made my Mint Chocolate Freezer Fudge? It's so easy, you will be whipping up your own creations in no time. Let's DO IT!
~
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup almond butter
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 5-6 Tbsp cacao powder
- 1 1/4 tsp mint extract (mine was a mix of peppermint & spearmint)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
*optional: add sweetener to taste (I omitted)

DIRECTIONS
- To a mixing bowl, add melted coconut oil and almond butter – give it a stir, if the almond butter is clumpy, you can heat it a little. A whisk is helpful here!
- Then add in the cacao powder and extracts, keep whisking until you have a nice smooth mixture. Give it a taste and see if you want to add anything more like even more cacao or extract.
- Either pour in a square glass dish to cut into squares, or using mini muffin liners, you can pour a tablespoon of the fudge in there. Garnish with sea salt and tiny mint leaves if you’ve got em’!

When I polled and asked the community here what your current struggles were with living a healthy lifestyle... I heard a resounding mix of: ☑️ "food freedom"
☑️ "staying consistent"
☑️ "cravings/binging"
☑️ "sugar addiction"
☑️ "reintroductions after Whole30 or AIP"

I think we can all relate to this... that's because we tend to chase diets like the "be-all, end-all" solution to our problems, and when one doesn't "work", it's on to the next. Even with healing diets, and they can be a little more sneaky because we might not expect a healing diet to give us that same "on again off again" mentality, yet it CAN and IS. ~
Mindset, mindful eating, intuitive eating, stress management, sleep, meditation, and general ridding yourself of the toxicity in your life (not even talking mercury fillings or "dirty" skincare here... but TOXIC PEOPLE AND SITUATIONS) have an enormous effect on us. Without considering all of this, and by only placing the emphasis on food bc it seems more controllable, we aren't being kind to ourselves. And simultaneously, we are messing with our ability to even be in tune with our bodies which is doing more harm than good and causing this spiral.
~
Ask not what diet you need to be on or "what's the best diet?" or "should I be taking collagen?"... and instead, ask "WHAT DO I REALLY NEED TO LOVE MYSELF RIGHT NOW?" and "WHAT IS OUT OF BALANCE FOR ME RIGHT NOW?". If you've done the eliminations and you're still feeling a mess... THAT'S NORMAL. Because it's more than food. Just knowing that can take some of the pressure off and the rest is a practice.

Happy first day of FALL, Y'ALL!! (Woah, I don't think I can even pull off saying, "Y'all"... but it rhymed so I went for it). ~
Well, I spent the morning battling subway service issues, shuttle bus traffic, and overthinking for way too long @thecontainerstore -I did a stupid thing, and took said subway and shuttle bus with extra traffic home instead of a cab, because I'm all like "My biceps GOT THIS." WRONG. I can't even lift my arms now and had some choice words for the losers that couldn't be bothered to let me walk by them or sit comfortably with my two big-ass bags. Thanks. #selfawareness ~
By the time I got home, I did like two things with my new organization tools in my two messiest cabinets (score) and am now about to pass out. And that was today in a nutshell! Send chicken soup and help, please. 😂Why do I do these things?? On the bright side... what a gorgeous freakin' day it is today. ENJOY!!

{R E C I P E BELOW} I’m getting swept up in the Pumpkin fever for sure. Funnily enough, hated pumpkin as a kid and was never a Pumpkin Spice Latte enthusiast by any means, it was more of a maturity curve and cooking with it myself that made me enjoy it so much! So I’m a late but loyal bloomer. 🎃 This #paleo Pumpkin Banana Bread and apple pie of course, are my faveeeee to make for the holidays!

Ingredients
-2 ripe bananas (spotted)
-3 1/2 Tbsp melted coconut oil or ghee
-3/4 cup pumpkin pureé
-3 Tbsp maple syrup
-1 egg
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
-1 1/2 Paleo All-Purpose Flour* (recipe on blog)
-1 tsp baking soda
-1 tsp gluten-free baking powder
-1 tsp ground cinnamon
-1/2 tsp ground ginger
-1/2 tsp ground clove powder
-pinch of salt

Instructions
1. Pre-heat the oven to 350f degrees and grease and/or line a bread baking tin (I use a 7x3) Set aside.
2. To a large mixing bowl (for your stand mixer if using one), add the bananas (break off into small pieces), melted oil or ghee, syrup, and pumpkin pureé. Mix all ingredients together until well combined using a masher or your stand mixer. While still mixing, add in the egg, vanilla and apple cider vinegar. Once mixed well, let sit.
3. Now you’ll combine the dry ingredients separately. In a mixing bowl, add flour, baking soda and powder, spices, and salt. Whisk together and ensure no clumps remain.
4. Start mixing your wet ingredients slowly again, and while mixing, add your dry flour mixture in slowly so it can incorporate evenly.
Once your batter is thoroughly mixed, pour into your lined/greased bread pan. Bake for 50-55 minutes until a toothpick at the center comes out clean when tested.
5. Let your bread rest for a few minutes and then transfer it to a drying rack. Let it rest further for at least 10 minutes or so (it will be soft in the middle if you try to cut it). Then with a bread or serrated knife, slice and serve! My favorite is with a bit of ghee.
