Instead of doing tasks on autopilot, try focusing on what you are doing. Pay attention to the details in your surroundings, the piece of food you are cutting up, or really feel the water on your skin when you wash your hands 🍅

Doing these sorts of things gives you the same benefits as a sit-down practice. It improves your ability to digest food properly which reduces inflammation and reactions in the gut 💚

I wanted to share this with you tonight rather than tomorrow at the 'right social media time'. If you are wondering which diet philosophy to try, this study has shown that participants eating a #lowcarb diet had a greater quality of life than the low fat group (low fat group had no change in quality of life). There was no differences in weight loss. So if perceived 'quality of life' is of concern, low carb may be the way for you. But please remember to eat your veggies, please! 🙏 🌿🍗🍳🌰🌱🍲

Perseverating about the past or the future technically pulls us away from the present moment - which is all there really is and the only certainty we know. We don’t need to forget about or negate the future or stop planning ahead with a sense of purpose, dreams or goals. But the only truth is the now - the only certainty. We get so caught up in storylines of the future and the past infused with worry, fear or sometimes things we like. These storylines are so believable. We forget and get so caught up in these stories. But the truth is we don’t know how life will unfold and when we get caught up in these storylines of the future, we miss what is actually happening right now. I will practice not getting caught up in these storylines so I don’t miss life in the now. Ferris Bueler does say you might just miss it!

The efficacy of meditation is not dependent on my beliefs, but rather is based on the trust of my greatest life teacher, my direct personal life experiences. It is a practice of awareness of the present moment, so I can get the most out of my life experiences, irregardless of what I think or believe. Sitting in the present moment is common to us all - the moment I let go of everything else - I am sitting in the shared human condition. ✌🏻🌱🧘🏻‍♂️

🥞Ever struggled with knowing when to stop eating? Most of us only know TWO extremes of eating: STARVING or STUFFED. Very rarely do we actually slow down to mindfully eat our food, be aware of our hunger levels, our body and its cues.

📊Have you seen the hunger scale before? If not, here it is! It’s a great way to think about your physical sensation and mood as it pertains to hunger. Being more aware of hunger can help you:

🔺manage portion sizes
🔺control emotional eating
🔺understand when to stop eating
🔺recognize your personal hunger cues

🧠In order to lose weight, being mindful and eating slowly is needed to tune in and recognize the signs of fullness.

🍴You should practice trying to eliminate hunger, NOT chase fullness. I made the mistake of chasing fullness for the first part of my dieting life and when I made the switch, I noticed a big change in my body. In other words, on the chart, the goal should be numbers 5-6. Ideally, you should feel as though you could workout an hour later without discomfort.

❌Zones 1-3: Try to stay out of these zones to avoid binging, overeating, or becoming ravenous or lightheaded.
✅Zones 4-7: The sweet spot of fullness. Zone 5-6 is where you want to be after a meal. Like you could eat more but feel good 🤗
❌Zones 8-10: Try to avoid this zone! This is what you may typically feel like after Thanksgiving 🍗
