Food can be a tool for harm, healing or revolutionary change.
Food is a site for culture, creativity and the reclamation of our bodies in the face of systems of oppression.
Food is essential for life and yet denied to too many in the form of systemic hunger and inadequate healthy food access in low-income neighborhoods and communities of color-- conditions often described as "food deserts," "food swamps" or "food apartheid." What is the state of the food justice movement in Los Angeles? How can we cultivate a local food system that supports the health of all communities, treats food workers with dignity, and preserves earth's natural resources?
SUNDAY 1/21: Join us for a discussion about the movement for healthy, affordable, sustainable and fair food in Los Angeles and beyond, as part of the week long event series @intoactionus. A conversation with @rudyespi from @lurnetwork, Joann Lo from @foodchainworkers, Chef @la_yoselin from @todoverde and @chef_bryce from @americanheartla, moderated by our Executive Director Clare Fox. 🍃RSVP link in bio. 🍃
