I don't love living in the past, however I love milestones. This picture popped up on my news feed from exactly two years ago and I thought I'd share the story of how it changed my life. This is me on a panel with Gary Keller, the chairman of the board for Keller Williams. We are in front of an audience of 12,000 people in this shot. It was a big deal. I had wanted to be on the stage of this particular event ever since I joined Keller Williams. AND... I was the heaviest I had ever been my entire life. I'll go ahead and say it: I was over 200 pounds.
The second picture is me speaking at Inman a few weeks ago. Not skinny, but fit and healthy.
Back in August of 2015, I remember having to go to the Plus department to buy the black suit I wore on the panel. I was pissed. Walking out of there I swore to myself I would only wear this suit once and then would donate it. I would never let myself get that big again. This has held true and will always hold true. I will never go back there again. The next week I started the diet program that helped me lose 70 pounds, which I have kept off to this day for the most part. Truth be told I've held steady at a net 60 and I'm fighting for that last 10-15!
It took me about 8 months to loose the weight. I did it with no exercise. In fact, I had not really exercised my entire adult life. After being a high school athlete and super active in college (and a little bit after), I stopped. I went to the first exercise class I had gone to in literally 25 years last July. It was called FlyWheel and it was a spin class and I loved it. I literally came back to Seattle and started going to 3 classes a week, then 4, then 5. I added barre in February. Now I go to 5-8 FlyWheel and FlyBarre classes per week, plus Militia Method. I feel the best I have ever felt physically in my life. Know what's extra cool? I started this at age 45. If you are telling yourself exercise isn't for you: find something you love. If you don't love it, you won't go back. And if you're not exercising you haven't found the right thing yet. #fitness #health #weightlossjourney #ageisjustanumber #flywheel #flybarre
