Benefits🙏:
Eka Pada Koundinyasana or the flying split strengthens the arms, neck and wrists
.
Prep🤸‍♂️:
1. Chaturanga (Four-Limbed Staff pose): strengthens the torso and back muscles, and develops the arm strength required to hold your body weight in the balance
.
2. Knee-to-Elbow Plank : activates core engagement to hold the body up, allowing you to extend the back leg
.
Steps👇:
1. Prepare your body with hip and hamstring stretches. Begin into a lunge with your left foot forward, and bring both of your hands to the inside of your front foot. Reach your chest forward, hands on your knee to find your balance.
.
2. In Lunge Pose, ensure that the left knee is stacked directly over the left ankle, and isn’t moving forward toward the toes or outward to the left or right. Move your palms inside right next to your left leg, keep your chest up and forward.
.
3.Sink your weight down into your hips and check in with your body. If you feel comfortable, lower down onto both forearms. Keep the chin lifted and the chest open.
.
4. Lift your left heel up off of the ; move your left thigh on top of your arm or shoulder.
.
5. Once you've worked your arm under your leg, plant your hands on the floor and bent your elbow in chaturanga pose. Life the fronts of your shoulders up away from the floor and first bent the front leg on top of your arm to get the balance and strength.
.
6. With your left foot lifted and extended, start to shift your weight forward and slowly move your back leg forward, bend knees and move it close to chest.
