When I planned this romantic ski trip 2 months ago, I didn’t know that there would be a march today. I didn’t know that the school 5 minutes from my house, where all of our community attended would be splashed all over the news. I didn’t know that our friends and family would be trapped in their classrooms fearing for their lives. I didn’t know that our next door neighbor wouldn’t make it. I didn’t know that our rabbi, who has mourned with our family, would be bringing comfort to those mourning throughout the world. I didn’t know that the words “gun control” would mean so much to me as they do today. I didn’t know because it hadn’t hit that close to home- Until it did. And tomorrow it could be your family. Your children.
The truth is, I’ve never been that proud of where I’ve been from. I loved New York because I felt like we were more on the same page. When people would ask me where I was from, I’d say, “You’ve probably never heard of it”. Well, now you have. And you’ll never forget it. I’ve never been more proud and hopeful about the future of our community and the future of this country because of the amazing kids at MSD and their supporters.
For every like I get today on all forms of social media, I will donate a $1 to the building of the children’s playground in my hometown in honor of Meadow Pollack. And if you want to match me, that would be even better. I may not be marching today my heart is with MSD, my family, my neighbors, my home and community. #msdstrong #flyeaglesfly #marchforourlives #guncontrolnow #everytown #meadowpollack #stonemandouglas #meadowsmovement
