These days I’m feeling tired of all the stuff around my house ~ probably because I’m spending more time indoors and I really do need to go through closets, and also because we’re doing last minute holiday shopping and I struggle with the idea of buying more stuff. William and I don’t exchange gifts because we’d rather save the money for something spontaneous. This also helps us to feel okay about splurging on something randomly throughout the year.
As we were talking last night, we had an idea about asking our families to put the money we would typically spend on gifts into a shared fund. Even though it’s not much, we could then spend the money each year on a big nice dinner together or a shared experience. We’ll see how it goes over, but it’s just fun to dream up ideas about how we can buy less stuff and have more experiences.
If you’re having similar feelings on holiday shopping, please share! And if you’re looking to gift more experiences and less stuff, may I suggest one of our ‘On the Flower Farm’ Workshops? 😉 (I know, I know, had to throw in a shameless plug - we also have “stuff” in our online shop too)
